Alexandria in Egypt

This great city of history Alexandria, founded before 300 B.C. by Alexander the Great, rests somewhere under the fading buildings of a much later time. The history of the place is still palpable, and newly created structures pay homage to the great buildings that were there before. It is, however, the leftovers of a cosmopolitan expat community that settled here during the belle epoque that still make the city irresistible to visitors. It’s not far from Cairo, yet the lifestyle here is much more about grand squares with French pastries and good coffee.
