The Marshall Islands (Republic of the Marshall Islands) are an archipelago of the Pacific Ocean, located north of equator in Micronesia, made up of two groups of coral islands, the Ratak Islands (16 atolls) and the Ralik Islands (18 atolls). Among the main atolls are Kwajalein (28.5 sq km), Enewetak (27 sq km), Jaluit (16.8 sq km), the atoll of Majuro hosts the capital Dalap Uliga Darrit.

The atolls of Bikini and Enewetak were used from the USA, between 1946 and 1958, as atomic polygons. The economy of the islands is linked to agriculture (copra, bananas, breadfruit, cassava, cocoa, fruit), fisheries, financial activities and tourism.
